For those that recall the Sawback’s release, there were parts of the chassis’s design which suggested a four-link incarnation was in the Sawback’s future. Most suggestive were the four rollers in the skid plate – perfectly placed for the lower links.
On July 31 2015, the existence of a four-link Sawback sibling was revealed to the world, in the shape of the Komodo.
This time, GMade has eschewed the Jeep style body in favour of a more traditional, modern pickup.
Whilst they’ve avoided going with a licensed body, the body’s shape is evocative of many modern trucks; the grille shape could easily be inspired by the Ford Atlas or 2014 Ranger and the raised bonnet reminded me of recent Dodge Rams.
Whatever the inspiration, it’s a GMade’s-own bodyshell. Once again, the Komodo is packaged in one of the sturdiest boxes I’ve seen – their boxes knock spots off the likes of Tamiya and Kyosho. The cover photo shows the Komodo forging across what looks like a swamp with ‘Komodo’ in huge chrome text top left. No doubt as to what’s in it and what it’s capable of then!
